CLinical Supervision

As a clinical supervisor, my style is warm, curious, and collaborative. I love when supervisees come with questions, or feel stuck and need a place to sit in the complex messiness of client work together. I am an empathetic listener who will ask you how your identity and how you show up in the world interconnects with the community you are working with. As clinicians who work in a field impacted by white supremacy, I know that moments of rupture and discomfort will come up (both in the work you’re doing and between us) and I believe it is important to address these moments directly and immediately in order to create space for accountability (mine and yours) and work towards repair. I am trained in Shawna Murray Browne’s method of Liberation Focused Healing and I work to implement this framework when supporting clinicians in their own work.

Finding Yourself as a Clinician: Why is it so hard?

I remember like it was yesterday graduating from school with my master’s degree and feeling like I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. The truth (that they absolutely did not teach in grad school) is that it takes time to find your own style and way of working with clients as a therapist. It is normal to feel lost or unsure, but this quickly becomes stressful when you also need to make a living doing what you’ve trained to do.

Even after years in the field, you may find that you’ve hit a wall. Maybe you’re burnt out on agency work and you’re trying to find a way to make it more sustainable for yourself. Or perhaps you’ve got a successful private practice but for some reason you’re not excited about the work anymore. As we grow and evolve as clinicians and as people, sometimes we need to shift our work to be more in line with both our values and our needs as human beings.

I can support you in quieting the outside noise and creating space for experimentation, reflection and discovering who you are now in this moment. In our work together, we can:

  • Address challenging moments with clients, including moments of rupture where you’re trying to figure out how to repair

  • Discuss concrete ways to establish (or re-establish) boundaries quickly to reduce feelings of burn out or vicarious trauma

  • Experiment with new ways of approaching the work with creativity and play to reignite your passion

  • Discuss your professional and personal goals and make a plan for how to find or create work that is exciting and brings you joy

Addressing Non-profit Burn Out

I have over 10+ years of experience working in non-profit systems, especially focusing on work with LGBTQIA+ children, adolescents and young adults. I have supported many clinicians who are trying to find a way to help communities that they themselves are a part of, while also managing the systemic harm, vicarious trauma and burn out that these systems often cause. If you got into this work because you care deeply about your clients but you are struggling to find a way to make this work sustainable for yourself, I can help.

Support for Creative Arts Therapists

For clinicians working towards their license in creative arts therapies (LCAT or LCAT-P) or clinicians working towards certification in Developmental Transformations, I provide tailored supervision and training therapy. This can include on-site visits and support as needed, as well as virtual and in-person supervision.
